Mechanical Drafting Services

Mechanical drafting is the production of detailed manufacturing drawings for mechanical parts and assemblies. In SolidWorks it covers GD&T dimensioned production drawings, bills of materials, and sheet-metal and weldment drawings created from 3D models or sketches to defined drafting standards for machining, fabrication, and assembly.

Manufacturers and product teams need drawings that tell a shop exactly how to make and inspect a part. Our mechanical drafting service produces detailed 2D production drawings in SolidWorks from your 3D models, existing drawings, or sketches. We create fully dimensioned part and assembly drawings with GD&T to ASME Y14.5 or ISO conventions, bills of materials, balloon callouts, sheet-metal flat patterns and bend information, and weldment drawings with cut lists, all built to your title blocks and drafting standards.

With 400+ delivered BIM/VDC projects for clients across the US, UK, and Europe, we draft to your CAD standards, templates, and drawing formats, working in imperial units by default with metric supported. Whether you supply native SolidWorks files, a neutral STEP model, or hand sketches to model and detail, we apply consistent tolerancing, views, and annotation so the drawings are clear and unambiguous on the shop floor. We manage revisions with proper revision tables and sign an NDA on request before you share your designs.

Hourly pricing with a free quote and payment only after delivery, plus an English-speaking team reachable 8:00-18:00 UTC+2 on weekdays.

Our Mechanical Drafting Services

Part production drawings

Fully dimensioned single-part drawings with GD&T, tolerances, surface finishes, and notes ready for machining or fabrication.

Assembly drawings

Assembly drawings with exploded views, balloon callouts, and bills of materials that show how components fit and go together.

Sheet-metal drawings

Sheet-metal part drawings with flat patterns, bend lines, bend tables, and gauge notes for laser cutting, punching, and forming.

Weldment drawings

Structural and frame weldment drawings with cut lists, weld symbols, and member details for fabrication and welding.

BOMs and revision control

Structured bills of materials, item numbering, and revision tables kept consistent across parts and assemblies through each release.

Model and drawing conversion

Modeling from sketches or neutral files and detailing, plus converting legacy drawings into clean SolidWorks drawings and templates.

Our Mechanical Drafting Process

  1. Share models and standards

Send SolidWorks files, STEP models, or sketches with your drafting standards, tolerancing convention, and title blocks. We return a free quote.

  2. Set up templates and standards

We configure drawing templates, sheet formats, dimensioning, and GD&T conventions to your standard before detailing.

  3. Detail the drawings

We create part and assembly drawings with correct views, sections, GD&T, BOMs, and sheet-metal or weldment information.

  4. Check and validate

Drawings are reviewed for dimensional completeness, tolerancing, manufacturability, and compliance with your drafting standards.

  5. Approval, revisions, and delivery

We issue for review, incorporate markups with proper revision control, and deliver SLDDRW, DWG, and PDF files as required.

Software We Use

We draft primarily in SolidWorks and support other mechanical CAD tools, matching your templates and drafting standards exactly.

FAQ

What is included in your mechanical drafting services?

Manufacturing-ready 2D drawings created in SolidWorks: GD&T dimensioned part drawings, assembly drawings with exploded views and BOMs, sheet-metal drawings with flat patterns and bend tables, and weldment drawings with cut lists - all built to your drafting standards and title blocks and delivered as SLDDRW, DWG, and PDF.

Do you apply GD&T to ASME or ISO standards?

Yes. We apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to ASME Y14.5 or ISO GPS conventions, whichever your project uses, with appropriate datums, feature control frames, and tolerances so parts are manufactured and inspected exactly to your design intent.

Can you work from STEP files or sketches without native models?

Yes. We detail from native SolidWorks files, neutral formats such as STEP or IGES, or hand sketches. If you supply a neutral model or sketch, we can rebuild or model the geometry in SolidWorks first, then produce the production drawings from it.

Which units and file formats do you deliver?

We draft in imperial units by default and fully support metric, and we deliver native SolidWorks SLDDRW files plus DWG and PDF outputs. We can match a specific SolidWorks version, drawing template, and revision-table format so files fit your release process.

How do you price mechanical drafting projects?

We charge hourly and provide a free quote after reviewing your models, part count, tolerancing needs, and drafting standards, and payment is due only after the work is delivered. An NDA is available on request before you share any designs.
