Building energy modeling is the simulation of how a building uses energy, using a virtual model of its geometry, envelope, systems, and climate to predict heating, cooling, lighting, and total consumption. What do you need to start an energy model?

Your building geometry as a Revit model or gbXML export, the location or climate data, and your target standard such as ASHRAE 90.1 or a LEED pathway. Details on constructions, systems, and occupancy help; where they are unknown we apply standard assumptions and note them clearly.

Is this an on-site energy audit?

No. This is simulation work run entirely off-site from your digital model. We do not perform field measurements, blower-door tests, or on-site audits. We analyze the design or a modeled existing building using energy simulation software and deliver the results as reports.

Can you support LEED and ASHRAE 90.1 submissions?

Yes. We build proposed and baseline models and produce the comparison results and documentation used to support LEED energy credits and ASHRAE 90.1 compliance. Your accredited professional or reviewer submits and certifies, and we provide the modeling and reporting behind it.

When in the project should we run energy modeling?

Both early and late add value. In concept and schematic design, comparative studies steer envelope, glazing, and orientation while changes are cheap. Later, a detailed model produces compliance and certification documentation. We can support one phase or model iteratively across several.
